Full Stack PHP Developer

Phoenix, AZ

Employment Type: Full Time Job Number: 3619540 Salary or Pay Rate: 90000/year - 125000/year

Job Description

In this full-time, Phoenix-based Full Stack Laravel Developer, you'll be the primary developer on a proven, revenue-generating SaaS platform used by dentist offices nationwide. The product is stable and relied upon—your role is to make it better, more reliable, and easier to scale.

Early on, you’ll focus on maintenance: debugging payment issues, fixing webhook failures, and handling PMS integration quirks.

As you ramp up (1-2 months), you’ll take on feature development and eventually own key parts of the system.

You’ll work directly with the founder/technical lead and collaborate with support to triage issues, create tickets, and prioritize work.

This is a small team—ownership and self-direction are expected.

Why This Role
  • Growing small business that has been operating for more than 5 years
  • Real fintech: actual payment processing with real money, not a CRUD app with a Stripe checkout button
  • High ownership: small team means you own what you build, from database to UI
  • Stable product, real users: dental offices depend on this daily; your work has immediate, visible impact
  • Full-stack variety: backend business logic one day, frontend components the next, debugging a webhook race condition the day after
  • AI-forward workflow: structured AI-assisted development is built into how the team works, not bolted on
  • Remote role for a Phoenix-based candidate as the team meets up regularly

Salary range – depending on experience 90K-125K+

What You’ll Do
  • Debug and improve a live payment platform (transactions, webhooks, integrations)
  • Build features end-to-end (database → backend → UI)
  • Write tests (Pest PHP, integration-level)
  • Partner with support to resolve customer issues
  • Refactor and improve code quality and observability
  • Manage deployments, queues, and system performance
  • Use AI tools effectively with sound judgment

Background Profile:
  • 3+ years of Laravel experience in production environments using advanced concepts like events, queues, service providers, policies, broadcasting, and multi-tenancy patterns.
  • Systems integration experience: building and maintaining connections between platforms via APIs, webhooks, WebSockets, and push notifications, including handling edge cases like retries, failures, and keeping data in sync across services
  • Data management experience: working with large datasets, writing complex queries, and managing database migrations and environment-specific configurations without causing disruptions
  • Hands-on experience with payment systems, payment processing, gateway, payfac or other high-stakes, high-volume integrations. You've personally gained 'battle scars' from past experiences that did not go as planned.
  • AI orchestration, not just using tools, but proactively building agents and automations that improve your own workflow
  • Experience with Vue, React, Svelte, and/or Inertia.js
  • CI/CD and deployment experience
  • AWS/Linux/DevOps exposure
  • Testing discipline, especially with financial data
  • Ability to independently debug, fix, and ship
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving mentality with a defensive programming mindset. You anticipate failure points, think through edge cases before they happen, and don't wait to be told how, you just take action.
  • Must reside in the Greater-Phoenix area
  • Comfortable working on a small team and for a small business
  • Must be a US Citizen to be considered as no sponsorship is available
